Chinatown

Australia’s largest Chinatown is always a hive of activity, carrying more than 200 years of Chinese-Australian history and remains the cultural heart for Chinese-Australians in NSW.

Known as the spiritual heart for Chinese-Australians, Haymarket's iconic Chinatown is the largest in Australia. Steeped in more than two centuries of history, visitors to Chinatown are greeted by the two Chinese gates (or paifang) on Dixon Street, and the precinct is a gastronomic paradise featuring food from all over Asia. Chinatown is also a vibrant cultural hub, hosting various festivals and events that celebrate the diversity of Chinese culture. Widely-known as the place to go after dark, Chinatown's buzzing vibe extends well into the night, with restaurants, bars and karaoke bars open well into the night.
